Severn Catchment

Jun 20, 2024

THE Maesmawr Group is working with Natural Resources Wales to improve the Upper Severn Catchment area to the benefit of landscape and biodiversity.
The Group is applying for funding to continue a range of agri-environmental actions to ensure cleaner water, more vegetation and less run-off in this very important area of catchment on the longest river in the UK.
The Severn serves five million people and water from the Uplands area flows into important designated sites for wildlife including specially-protected areas of the Bristol Channel estuary.
Chair Roche Davies says: “Farmers should be seen as a valuable part of the solution in reducing biodiversity decline and ensuring resilience to climate change effects and it is important that we all work together on this.”
