THERE has been praise for the Maesmawr Group from external evaluators of Welsh Government funding.
“Maesmawr have created a unique way of working that can be a model for other areas,” said the assessor from OB3 consultants. “They have harnessed the skill, experience and commitment of the farming community, the knowledge and application of environmental experts, the skill of a committed facilitator and the interest of the wider community and the next generation.”
The farmer-led group delivered a huge number of environmental improvements for landscape and nature as part of a Sustainable Management Scheme project which ran for two years.
These included planting or upgrading over 2km of hedgerow, restoring almost 6km of bridleways or footpaths, and ensuring clean waters by avoiding stock pollution with fencing along 2km of river or stream banks.
