THE Maesmawr Group’s chair Roche Davies has presented a range of equipment and other support to local schools and a nursery as part of its education links programme.
The farmer-led collaborative project provided help including an outdoor classroom, outdoor climbing steps, an outdoor kitchen and also fenced off a wildlife area for biodiversity. Schools were also supported by having their transport costs paid and a bespoke meeting and facilities tent provided for them at the National Sheep Association’s Welsh Sheep event in May last year at Red House farm, Aberhafesp.
Michelle Humphreys, head of Llandinam Primary School says: “We are delighted to receive the outdoor classroom which we plan to use so that children can better learn about the nature around them and the importance that pollinators and other wildlife play in farming and food production as well as well-being of nature and people.” The eight schools who took part in the initiative were from: Llandinam, Abermule, Tregynon, Newtown (Calon y Dderwen and Maldwyn Nursery), Trefeglwys, Caersws and Llanidloes (Primary).
